What's the best way to liquidate a large collection of antique glassware?
My parents inherited a large collection of glassware from my grandmother. It was appraised 11 years ago with a value of $50,000. Of course we would like to get as close to book value as possible but we also would like to have this completed sooner rather than later, within a year if possible. As I see it, our choices are ebay, sell to a dealer, set up a website or rent a space in an antique co op. Which of these would be the best combination of value and speed? Are there other options we should consider?

Snake engraving on white glassware?
I have a piece of white glassware that was sitting in my father's garage for about 5 years. Upon closer inspection of the bottom I barely noticed a snake engraving.I've been doing some research and have not discovered anything. I've been antiquing with my parents off and on and have seen lots of glassware markings. This one is new to me.the piece kinda reminds me of a candy dish or something similar on a pedestal. It has rectangular protrusions on the bowl area and stem of base. It has 3 rings above the rectangles on the base and one above the rectangles on the bowl. It measures 14" around the top with a 4 1 2" diameter opening at the top. It is 4 1 2" tall. The marking on the bottom appears to be a skeletal type snake engraving which looks to be designed by scoring. It also has a forked tongue on the head. Also on the bottom of the base on the edge, there seems to be a type of pattern that I can only assume is used to traction. There are two seams on either side that run from top to bottom on the outside only. There are no chips or cracks. No Discoloration can be seen. It seems to be in excellent condition. The photos that I do have of it are not real clear of the snake. I penciled it in because it's so lightly engraved that I couldn't get a rubbing.i72.photobucket.com albums i195 VioletRainn Antiques 100 0513.jpgi72.photobucket.com albums i195 VioletRainn Antiques 100 0515.jpgi72.photobucket.com albums i195 VioletRainn Antiques 100 0520.jpgi72.photobucket.com albums i195 VioletRainn Antiques 100 0519.jpg
