How much is an antique 1957 freemason hammer gavel thing worth?

Question: How much is an antique 1957 freemason hammer gavel thing worth?

I found it in my garage. It has a gold G symbol on it. I see freemasonry stuff go for good prices on ebay, but no hammers.

A 1957 gavel isn't really much of an 'antique.' It's more of a 'vintage' gavel, rather than anything else. As far as it being worth anything, I'd have to say that it's not worth all that much, except to the person who it was given to originally. And maybe their family. New gavels - Nice ones - go for s little as $20. Hand-tooled ones go for much more. You're probably looking at somewhere between $2 - $5 for the example you've got.

I assume that your gavel has a presentation inscription on it- these are often given to a Mason when he becomes the Master of his lodge- and often given by his wife. An inscription can be very nice because it dates the piece but it also can reduce the value- do you want to pay a lot of money for a gavel with someone else's name on it? If it is in really nice condition, maybe $20.00 ,but probably less because you can buy new ones for as low as $10.00

Not worth a lot. Take it to the lodge in your town, and they may be able to give you a history. New gavels cost about 10 bucks, and inscribed go a little higher.
