Question: Can i use an antique boss oven?

I just bought an antique Boss Oven for use in my cabin. I like the way it looks and it is the perfect size for occasional baking. I was looking up some old info on it and see in most of the ads that it has asbestos insulation. Can I use the oven AS IS? If not, If i can disassemble it, can I remove the asbestos, clean it sufficiently and replace it with something else and make it safe for use? Please let me know.

To the best of my knowledge and what I have read on asbestos, if the asbestos is left undisturbed, you are fine/ ok to use the oven. Personally, I would want the asbestos removed. As far as you removing the asbestos your self, no you should not attempt it. You should not just throw it in the trash. Asbestos Abatement should only be done by a trained professional. On a job, on a train car, we had an Asbestos Abatement company come in and do the work. White suits, clean air supply, the whole shebang that you do not have access to.
